freestyle session strand horst

last wednesday I had a really good session at my home spot strand horst!
good wind and a lot off sun! i was on my 5.3 firefly and jp freestyle 99.

friends of friestyle

well friends of friestyle was a well organized freestyle event at Stavoren a surfspot at the ijselmeer.
good vibe at the event, nice dj mixing the music!
unfortunately no wind but, the organization decided to do a oldschool longboard freestyle competition. I was really fun! every one was making 360's like the was no tomorrow!!

I became 2nd at the old school longboard freestyle competition!


After that I went out with Manfred de Wit (JP/NP) to do a tow in freestyle session with a wakeboard winch. It was really cool with that winch, maybe I shout see if I can make one myself.

Dutch championships freestyle

well the first freestyle events in holland have been surfed!

at first king of the dam! the open dutch freestyle championships.
the level was really high! air flaka, shaka's and kono's were flying around!
I finished 5th.
I'm not really happy with the result because I know i can do better.
the wind was quiet okay but we had almost the whole day rain so I was really cold, I was on my NP firefly 5.3 and my JP freestyle 99, and the wind was pretty gusty some some times I was really well powered and some times I was pumping like hell to bust out a trick.

unfortunately because of the heavy rain I don't have any action pics.
But it was a really good organized event by team the bunch, with good atmosphere and a lot of action!

Finally the first big freestyle event of 2010, the EFPT (European Freestyle Pro Tour)
The first event was in Leucate, La Franqui. I and went to leucate with Pim van der Borgt and his parents to first train a few days and then participate in the european championships freestyle.


The first few days we had no wind and we chilled on the beach and I had time to shoot some shot for my first instructional video clip.






the event:
The event was pretty big and very busy. Around 2000 visitors per day visited the event.
Unfortunately the first 2 days of the event there was nog enough wind to start the heats. so everyone chilled at the beach and we went tow in windsurfing. really fun to do!!

At the last event day there was finally wind! Not bizarre much, but enough for 5.3 to plane.
The first round of the 1st elimination I got true the first round by beating Antony Ruenes. The next round, I was defeated by a very strong surfing Thomas Traversa.

In the double elaminatie I got a 2nd chance to work me up the elimination latter.
here I was able to work myself up a view rounds. after a view rounds I was up against Davy Scheffers. Unfortunately after 2 minutes the wind dropped and didn't came back. Fortunately, they count the double elaminatie too.

I finished at a very nice 9 th place!!

dutch championships ice surfing

well it has been i while since i update my blog.
one change for 2010 is the i'm going to write my blog in English.



winter is still here in holland, yesterday it snowed again.
so but one of the fun things about the winter is that if there's enough ice you can go ice surfing.

so for the second time in a row the dutch championships ice surfing were held at my local surfspot strand horst!!

thanks to Dirk Doppenberg for letting me use one of his ice surfers so i also could compete. it was very fun using it, it was like a snowboard withe one blade under it.
the feeling was cool it was like i was surfing on a freestyle board. a lot of front foot pressure.

the event was really nice, a lot of competitors! and very good organized!
